For many of our youth and young adults, the future represents a continued expression of hopelessness. Whether it is a function of an unfortunate life event such as a break up or the loss of a loved one or if it is an untreated mental illness, the result tends to be the same: They take their lives.

SUICIDE FACTS

Youth suicide is a major public health concern in the United States.

Suicide is the 2nd leading cause of death for 15 to 24 year old Americans.

While it is not intuitive, and is difficult to understand, suicide ranks as the leading cause of death among all youth aged 5-11 years of age.

According to a recent report from Centers for Disease Control and Prevention, “In 2016, suicide became the second leading cause of death for ages 10-34 and the fourth leading cause for ages 35-54.”
